Erica Thomas Named Associate Principal for Instruction and Guidance at Seekonk High School

Seekonk, MA – Superintendent Dr. Rich Drolet is pleased to announce the appointment of Erica Thomas as Associate Principal for Instruction and Guidance at Seekonk High School. Ms. Thomas attended Rivier University in Nashua, New Hampshire and received her Bachelor's Degree studying Human Development. She furthered her education at Rivier University earning her Masters degree in School Counseling. Later, Ms. Thomas earned her CAGS in School Leadership from American International College in Springfield, MA.

Ms. Thomas has spent the last five years working at Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School in Fall River as a Guidance Counselor. As part of her work responsibilities, Ms. Thomas co-chaired the Social Emotional Learning Committee, was a member of the Student Success Team, participated as a member of the Special Education Working Group, revised the District Bullying Intervention Plan, and co-created and coordinated a schoolwide Aspire Program. Prior to working at Diman RVT High School, Ms. Thomas was a Guidance Counselor at Wilmington High School from 2007-2015.

Ms. Thomas was one of twenty candidates who applied for the position. A search committee inclusive of district administrators and Seekonk High School staff virtually interviewed Ms. Thomas and forwarded her as a finalist to Superintendent Drolet. Dr. William V. Whalen III, Principal of Seekonk High School chaired the search committee charged with finding the new Associate Principal. “Ms. Thomas is bringing great energy and experience to the high school. The committee unanimously supported her as a finalist for the position.” Dr. Drolet added, “The search committee did an excellent job. Erica is going to be a great addition to Seekonk High School,” said Superintendent Drolet. “She is passionate about education, student-centered, eager to start in her new role, and has many years of high school experience.”

Ms. Thomas’ employment with the Seekonk Public Schools will begin on July 1, 2020.
