Edward John Hyde, 83, of Rumford, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved and devoted husband to Anne M. (LaRocque) Hyde just shy of 60 years.

In addition to his wife, Edward is survived by his son Edward J. Hyde Jr. of Alpha, NJ; his beloved daughter, Elizabeth A. Hyde of Maryville, TN; his grandchildren, Charles Hyde of Foxboro, Shannon Hyde of Knoxville TN, Evan Hyde and Brandon Benoit both of Sevierville, TN and Courtney Benoit of Miami. FL; also 5 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Beatrice Greene of North Attleboro, Patricia Fontneau of Rochester, NH and Cathleen Turley of Seekonk; he also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Charles Hyde, Ralph Hyde, Walter Hyde, Shirley Maynard, Eileen Lee, Joan Lavendier and Alice Savastano.

Born on May 28, 1939, in Attleboro, Edward was a son of the late Charles Carlin and Beatrice Veronica (Kelley) Hyde.

Edward grew up in Attleboro and was educated in the Attleboro school system. He moved to Milpitas, CA and returned East and settled in Rumford, RI where he has resided for the past 50 years.

Edward retired after 31 years form the Foxboro Company (Invensys) in 2012. He previously worked for ESB in Santa Clara, CA, Bird & Son and Automatic Machine. Edward was a communicate of St. Margaret Parish in Rumford, RI.

In his spare time, he loved working with his hands and was always undertaking a new project. He built a gazebo, made bookcases and bird houses. He enjoyed cooking and baking "from scratch". Edward enjoyed reading, especially books having to do with history. He was an avid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots and enjoyed many Pawsox games. Edward loved family get-togethers and cookouts, he would always have a smile and the ability to make you laugh. Those that knew him well know about the infamous 1993 trip to California. He loved to travel, especially trips to Italy and Prince Edward Island, his many road trips to visit family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, exceptional father, grandfather and a true friend to all who knew him. He was dearly loved and his loss is profound.

Edward's family would like to graciously thank and recognize the wonderful staff of Hope Health Hospice North Team, Sturdy Memorial Oncology Unit, and Doctors Akansha Chowdhary and Steven Bensson and staff for their expertise and assistance in caring for Edward.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Sunday, August 7, 2022 from 1-4 PM at the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, August 8, 2022 at 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 N. Main Street, Attleboro. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Attleboro.
