Edna Mae (Harnish) Kelly

Posted

Edna Mae (Harnish) Kelly, 95, formerly of Seekonk and Attleboro, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Madonna Manor Nursing Home. She was the beloved wife of the late Earl D. Kelly, Sr., who passed away on February 9, 1989.

Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Edna was the daughter of the late William M. Harnish and Blanche (Newman) Harnish.

Over the years, Edna held various office positions at JC Hall in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Cumberland Engineering in South Attleboro, and GM Industries in Seekonk. She was a member of the P.E.A.L. Club and eventually became President where she held that position for approximately nine years, all while enjoying time spent with her fellow P.E.A.L. members and friends. She also volunteered for Valley Hospice in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and for LaSalette Shrine as a grief counselor. She also became well recognized in the community as a product demonstrator for a variety of local supermarkets.

She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed her travels to Sanibel Island, Arizona, Hawaii and California with the family over the years. She had a passion for reading and crafting (to the extent that she was making crafts for other residents and staff at Madonna Manor while residing there). She was even crafting Christmas ornaments (some macrame) for the family just weeks before she took ill. She was definitely a woman of many talents.

Edna is survived by her sons: Dennis Kelly and his wife Michelle, of Attleboro; and Craig Kelly and his wife Mary Anne of Pawtucket, Rhode Island; three grandchildren: Tracy Ann Doorley and her husband John of Seekonk, MA; Thomas Kelly and his wife Brooke, of Attleboro, MA; and Robert Kelly and his wife Ursola of Attleboro, MA; six great-grandchildren: Monica Doorley, Jack Doorley, Madison Kelly, Chace Kelly, Landon Kelly and Nolan Kelly. She was predeceased by her brother, Leslie Harnish. She is survived by her sister-in-law Joan Harnish, and their daughter Catherine and her family.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Madonna Manor Nursing Home and HopeHealth for their compassionate care towards Edna during the last 5 years of her life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Madonna Manor Nursing Home, 85 North Washington Street, North Attleboro, MA 02760, or HopeHealth, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.

At Edna's request, a private graveside burial was held at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Rehoboth, Massachusetts.
