Edith C. Bettencourt, 91, of East Providence, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024. She was the wife of the late George Bettencourt.

Born in North Providence, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and M. Alma (Brissette) Weston.

Mrs. Bettencourt was extremely proud of raising her loving family and always welcoming friends. She served at the St. Brendan's convent as a cook. She went on to work for Bachman Products and Hall Institute as an Executive Assistant. She also loved reading, puzzles, and bird watching and feeding. She was a member of the Rhode Island Red Hat Society. She was an avid Hallmark Channel fan which was fitting for that deep love of family and friends.

She leaves one daughter, Carol L. Gouveia of Warwick, three sons, Paul N. Bettencourt and his partner Nancy Parkinson of Nashua, NH, Gene D. Bettencourt and his wife Dotty of Sutton, MA and James E. Bettencourt and his wife Lori of Cumberland, eighteen grandchildren, Kimberly, Tracy, Michael Jr., Jodi, David, Haley, Landon, Kyle, Kristen, Jaime, Gregory, Ryan, Lauren, Matthew, Samuel, Molly, and Brian Sr., twenty great grandchildren, daughter in-laws, Susan Bettencourt and Donna McCarten and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Stephen G. Bettencourt and Michael J. Bettencourt, grandmother of the late S. George J. Bettencourt Jr. and sister of the late Beatrice Gentes and Arthur E. Weston Jr.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-MCSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Brendan Church, 60 Turner Avenue, Riverside. Burial will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours Friday, 5-7PM.
