Charles E. Lapré, 96, of Rumford, RI passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Evergreen House Health Center. He was the husband of Marion B. (Kelly) Lapré to whom he was married for 74 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Alphonse and Arthemise (Ethier) Lapré. Mr. Lapré was a Merchant Marine Veteran of WWII serving as Chief Petty Officer aboard the Alexander Ramsey. He was a master craftsman for BDA Inc., which manufactured fine jewelry. He worked in every phase of gold jewelry design, mold making and casting for over 40 years. He was a 4th Degree Knight for the Knights of Columbus, Hendricken Council in Providence. After moving to East Providence he became a member of the East Providence Council, #1528. Besides his wife he leaves six daughters, Marianne Tomasetti and her husband Richard of Johnston, Pauline Lapré of Lincoln, Donna Waldron of East Providence, Charlene Farley and her husband Brian of Smithfield, Regina Williams and her husband Bruce of Needham, MA and Justine Remsbecker and her husband Dr. Stephen Remsbecker of Rehoboth, twelve grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the father in law of the late Charles Waldron. His funeral and visitation will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM in the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Loreto Church, Waterman Avenue, East Providence. Burial with Military Honors will be held in Notre Dame Cemetery, Daggett Avenue, Pawtucket.
