(August 23, 2023) – Avian hunters with long sharp talons, hooked beaks, and highly developed eyesight and hearing are headed to Bristol. They’re raptors, the superior hunters of the avian world.

Owls, hawks, and falcons will be featured in live presentations, educational programs, and activities for bird enthusiasts of all ages. Audubon Raptor Weekend presents a unique opportunity for visitors to get up-close with many species and learn about their adaptations and habitats in this engaging, family-friendly weekend event.

New for 2023! Birds & Brews
Audubon partners with Proclamation Ale Co. of Warwick, RI for Birds & Brews, an Audubon Raptor Weekend Brewery Night on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. Enjoy “Music by Mel” and get up close with Audubon owl and hawk ambassadors. Sip local brews and learn all about these amazing birds as Audubon naturalists talk about their natural history. Tickets: $30/person

Tickets for Birds & Brews are separate from Raptor Weekend and available online only. Ticket sales begin July 24, 2023. For details and to purchase tickets, visit www.asri.org.  All participants must be age 21+.

Raptor Weekend Presenter Highlights
In addition to owl and hawk presentations by Audubon experts, wildlife rehabilitators from across the Northeast will bring their expertise with birds of prey to the event.

New for 2023! Free Flight Programs Return to Raptor Weekend.
Master Falconer Gregory Wojtera has worked with over 55 raptors during the past 14 years and has worked as a full-time falconer and educator since 2016. Wojtera trains and flies hawks, falcons and owls and founded Master of the Skies in 2014 to educate the public on falconry and raptors. He will be presenting a number of hawks in free-flight programs on both Saturday and Sunday.

Connecticut-based raptor rehabilitator Mary-Beth Kaeser of Horizon Wings will return this year on Saturday, September 9. She will be presenting an American Kestrel, Peregrine Falcon, Red-shouldered Hawk and more.

Wildlife Rehabilitator and Connecticut Falconer Christine Peyreigne of Wilton, CT presents her popular raptor program with hawks and owls on Sunday, September 10.

Also on Sunday, the ever-popular presenters Marcia and Mark Wilson of Eyes on Owls will introduce the audience to a wide variety of live owls, some native to New England and other species that are found across the globe. The Wilsons will also explore the protection of owls and their habitats.

Entertaining and educational games and activities for families will be featured both days. Admission also provides access to the award-winning Audubon Nature Center and Aquarium and entrance to the Center’s 28-acre wildlife refuge, including aquarium exhibits, the scenic boardwalk to Narragansett Bay, and the Palmieri Pollinator Garden.
