At 81, Seekonk Man Celebrates 775 Straight Days of Exercise

Posted

Seekonk, Mass. — For most people, sticking to a fitness routine can be a challenge. For Steven Suher, it became a daily commitment—one he maintained for more than two years without missing a single day.

On April 10, the 81-year-old marked his 775th consecutive day of exercise, a milestone that reflects both discipline and determination. A familiar face at his local gym, including a Planet Fitness in East Providence, Suher built a routine that became central to his life.

“I just kept going,” he said. “Next milestone is 1,000 consecutive days!”

That consistency paid off. Over the course of his streak, Suher lost more than 30 pounds and improved his overall health, including lowering his A1C to 5.9%.

His journey is even more notable given the challenges he faced in recent years. Suher underwent dialysis for four years before receiving a kidney transplant three years ago. Since then, he has made staying active a priority—not just for fitness, but for long-term health.

His workouts were straightforward. Most days, he spent about 20 minutes on low-impact equipment such as an elliptical or recumbent bike. Occasionally, he exercised twice in one day, pushing his total number of workouts past 800.

Friends and fellow gym-goers gathered to recognize the milestone, celebrating not just the number, but the dedication behind it.

For Suher, the goal wasn’t recognition—it was consistency. And even after 775 consecutive days, he showed no signs of slowing down.

His story serves as a reminder that it’s never too late to make a commitment to better health—and stick with it.
