Anna P. Ferreira
Anna P. Ferreira, 60, of Rehoboth, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023 at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the wife of Roger D. Ferreira.
Born in Ribeira Grande, São Miguel, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Virginio and Maria Venicia (Medeiros) Moniz. She was a 1984 graduate of Rhode Island College. Her father, a bricklayer and stone mason, instilled in Anna a remarkable work ethic, which she applied as an ER nurse at Hasbro Children’s Hospital for 38 years.
Anna was kind, compassionate, loving, and had an amazing sense of humor. No matter the situation, patient, or family member, her incredible strength and composure instilled a calmness in all of those around her. The love she had for her family knew no bounds and could be felt by everyone around her. With infectious laughter, quick wit, a big smile and even bigger heart, Anna was treasured by all who knew her.
In her spare time, Anna enjoyed being in the sun, whether it was going down the road to her sister’s pool, gardening, or just playing with her dog Remi in the front yard. Anna’s creativity extended from countless home improvement projects to creating beautiful flower arrangements for every season. To her family, Anna was the energizer bunny. In her best moods, Anna could be seen dancing and singing “Brown Eyed Girl” throughout the house. Over the years, Anna leaned on an incredible faith to work through life’s challenges, as well as share in life’s treasures. She was a mother, wife, sister, daughter, aunt, friend, healer, and now angel.
Besides her husband, she leaves behind three children: Andrew D. Ferreira, Ethan J. Ferreira and Alexandra K. Ferreira; one sister, Adriana M. Raposo and her husband Roy; one brother, George M. Moniz and his wife Kelly; and five nieces and nephews: Stephanie, Joshua, Zachary, Jacob and Mackenzie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 10:00 AM in St. Margaret Church, 1098 Pawtucket Avenue, Rumford. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023 from 4-7 PM in the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence.
