Action Packed Sports Day for Townie Nation

Many teams playoff bound. Senior Night Boys Volleyball

Today’s cooler weather means hot action for East Providence Softball, baseball, volleyball, tennis and track & field teams. On the softball and baseball diamonds, Martin and Riverside middle schools continue their run toward possible state championships. The 10-0 Riverside boys baseball team continues their undefeated march with a semi final game against Cole MS of East Greenwich today at Pierce Stadium. Game time is 5 pm. A win today sends RMS to the quarter finals on Thursday, most likely also at Pierce. The boys middle school state championship game is slated for Thursday, June 2nd at Pierce Stadium also.

The 6-3 softball Martin Middle School Wildcats are in playoff action today at 4:30 pm against West Warwick at Riverpoint Field at the McCarthy complex in West Warwick.

The 6-3 softball Riverside Middle School Vikings are also in playoff action vs. Warwick Vets at the Riverside Recreation Complex on Somerset ave. Game time is 4:15 pm.

In high school boys’ tennis, the Townies will take on West Warwick in a 4:15 home match at the Kendbrim Swim and tennis Club off Forbes street in Riverside.

EPHS baseball will play its last game of the season at 4 pm in North Kingstown at Lischio Field. The baseball Freshman team will play at Cranston West at 4:15 pm.

The Townie Boys Volleyball team will take on Tolman/Shea at East Providence High School at 6:30 pm. The Townies are coming off an impressive 3-0 win over Toll Gate. “We were led by Xavier Hazard with 14 Kills and 10 Digs. Freshman Jordan Roriguez played extremely well in his Varsity debut. His solid defense and passing helped the team to pick up a 3-0 win,” said Townie coach Dan Cabral. Tonight’s volleyball game is Senior Night for players and families.

East Providence will also represent in the Outdoor Track & Field Middle School Division Championship vs. multiple schools at Barrington High School at 4:15 pm.
