The Third Annual Pride Festival was held on June 14 on the campground located behind the Newman YMCA.
Several hundred people attended the event, which was a celebration of Seekonk’s LGBTQ+ community.
Vendors sold a variety of merchandise, including clothing, jewelry, flowers, and art work.
Social service organizations and religious groups were also on hand to provide information about their programs.
Entertainment included Catnip Junkies, New England Witches Guild, Aba, Coastline Show Chorus, Cool Beverages, Field Of Embers, Mitchell Cohen-Johnson (Kelsea Giudice),and Ivy Amore Glam.
There was also a Wrestling Museum and Drag Storytime.
Kristin Lyons, one of the event organizers, noted she was “so thrilled” to see returning vendors and participants from the previous festivals.
“They tell us that (Seekonk Pride) is one of their favorite events,” Lyons said.
Lyons believes the popularity of Pride events sends a clear message to anti-LGBTQ activists: “More people than not want everyone to have equal rights. They can protest all they want but every American deserves the same rights regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, and we’re not going to stop the fight.”
