Flashlight Readers (virtual)
Thursday, December 9, 6:30 - 7:30 PM
What's a flashlight reader? It's simple! A child who reads by flashlight! Emergent readers in grades 1 & 2 are invited to this special, virtual event just for them. During the program everyone will follow-along with their flashlight as Miss Sharon reads a Beginner Reader book. (Everyone will have picked up a copy of the book being read.) We'll sign-off after one book and kids will be encouraged to continue reading with their flashlight. Registration required.

Sensory Friendly Family Movie
Saturday, December 11, 11 AM
The event will include sensory-friendly features such as lights up, sound down, relaxed rules, and subtitles. Everyone is invited to this all-inclusive, welcoming, movie event. Visit the library’s calendar of events at seekonkpl.org for the exact title of this holiday movie starring Will Ferrell and James Caan. Please feel free to bring your own fidgets, comfort items, and snacks. Social story (with photos) available upon request, email us at childrens@seekonkpl.org  for more details. Rated PG, run time 1 hour 37 minutes. Drop in.

Made by Me: Homemade Pizza Sauce

Let's make dinner! During this LIVE, 1 hour ZOOM class children ages 8 + will prepare a delicious recipe from their own kitchen and then serve it to their family for dinner. December's recipe is homemade pizza sauce. Seekonk Library will provide some of the ingredients, including prepared pizza shells, which need to be picked up in advance. Minecraft Education Edition Club
Monday, December 20, 5:30 PM
Join Ms. Sandie (virtually) for a single session build challenge in Minecraft Education Edition. We'll meet via Zoom and join a Minecraft world together to complete a build challenge. This is a one session event and registration is required. The Zoom link will be emailed to participants 1 hour before the program's start time. Registration required.

STORYTIMES
Seekonk Library storytimes focus on talking, singing, reading, writing and playing- important principles for your child’s reading readiness. Please bring your SAILS library card so your child can browse and select books to take home. Siblings are always welcome.

Jingle Babies
Monday, December 13, 10 AM
Join Miss Sharon for a seasonal storytime with a holiday theme. Includes a book or two followed by music, fingerplays, movement and definitely jingle bells! For December 15, everyone is invited to wear red, green or blue. Siblings always welcome. Registration not required. Drop in. Please bring your SAILS Library Card. Time will be set aside for children to check out a book and take it home. Even very young children like to "browse and select" books!

Jingle Kids

Join Ms. Sandie for a holiday themed storytime filled with stories and activities for ages 2-5, younger siblings always welcome! All are invited to wear red or green. Drop in. No registration required. Bring your library card to check out some great books.

Anytime is storytime! Stop in and check out a packet of 6 books to take home. Comes with an accompanying early literacy activity. Assorted themes.

Friendship Bracelet Take & Make Kits
Starting Monday, December 27
Stop by the Children's Room to pick up a Make Your Own Friendship Bracelets Take & Make Kit! We'll provide embroidery floss to create friendship bracelets using our on-demand craft tutorial, Creative Bug! Beginners can learn the basics of bracelet making, while those with some experience can build on their skills and learn different patterns and techniques. All you need is your library card to access the tutorial videos in Creative Bug. There is no live, in person, component to this program. Participants pick up a kit to complete the project on their own time using the on-demand video. While supplies last.

Coding with Dash Robot!
Monday, December 27 at 2 PM
In this hands-on program, children in grades 2 - 5 will be introduced to coding to make the Dash robot move, talk and even dance while learning how to build lines of code. The program ends with a robot obstacle course challenge. Led by MobileQuest, creators of engaging STEM activities and challenges for students. Limited to 24 children. Registration required and a minimum of 8 children needed for the program to be held.

Family Movie Matinee
Tuesday, December 28, 2 PM
Join us for a family movie on the big screen! Check the library’s website for the exact title but it’s a new dvd release featuring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt. PG-13, Run time 2 hours, 7 minutes No registration required, just drop in!
