Robert “Bob” J. Stallard, 93, of Seekonk, MA, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family and friends on October 3, 2024. He was the beloved and devoted husband of the late Jean Stallard and son of the late John and Janet (Sangster) Stallard, also of Seekonk. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Margaret Alexander and Janet Peck.
Bob is survived by his son Gary Stallard, daughter and son-in-law Gail and Jim Feeney, his loving grandchildren, Courtney Sylvia, Kayla Sylvia and her husband Jaime Kaplan, Nicholas Feeney and Alicia Feeney, along with a niece and several nephews. A lifelong resident of Seekonk, Bob served as the Seekonk Postmaster for the US Postal Service until his retirement in 1987 after over 30 years of service. He joined the Seekonk Volunteer Fire Department at 17 years old, working for over 50 years as a firefighter, EMT, instructor, and eventually serving as Deputy Fire Chief until his retirement in 1999.
Bob was a U.S. Military veteran, serving in the Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean War.
He was a 60+ year Freemason member, member of the Scottish Rite, and Past Worshipful Master in the Netop and Eastern Star Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Rehoboth. Bob met Jean Carlberg when they were 22 and 17 respectively. They wed in 1957 and remained happily married for nearly 60 years until Jean’s passing in January 2017. His greatest joys were spending time with his family and loved ones and his dog Loki, while acting as unofficial “neighborhood watch” over Airdrie Ct. in the house he built himself and lived in for 64 years. An adept handyman, “Papa” was always everyone’s first call when something needed fixing. Though his legacy will live on, he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024, from 5:00 PM- 8:00 PM. in the Smith-Mason Funeral Home, 398 Willett Ave. Riverside, RI. 02915. A funeral service for Bob will be held at St James Lutheran Church, 49 Middle Highway, Barrington, RI. 02806 on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 10:00 AM. followed by a burial in Seekonk Cemetery on Newman Avenue in Seekonk MA. 02771.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s honor to St. James Lutheran Church.
