Mary Stella (Coelho) Rose, a cherished pillar of her community and a beacon of kindness, passed away peacefully at her home in Seekonk, MA, on January 27, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on January 18, 1935, in East Providence, RI, to the late Frank S. and Emily T. (Grilo) Coelho, Mary was a woman whose life was defined by love, faith, and service.

A devoted wife to the late Louis S. Rose, Mary's partnership with Louis was a testament to enduring love and shared values. Together, they nurtured a family that includes their son, Kevin L. Rose and his wife Carol of Chesapeake, VA, and daughter, Kimberly M. Johnson, and her late husband John of Seekonk, MA. Mary's role as a mother was one of her greatest joys, and her love and guidance have left an indelible mark on her children's lives.

Mary's siblings, Rosaline Mello of East Providence, and the late Emily Rose and Gertrude Petrecca, shared in the many fond memories of a life well-lived. Her legacy continues through her adored grandchildren: Alexis Pelletier, Shane Cassidy and his wife Tina Delmonaco, Victoria Rose, Elizabeth Rose and her husband Matthew Avny, William Rose, Kelsey Johnson, Melissa Johnson, and Kristian Johnson, all of whom she loved deeply.

Mary's professional journey as a self-employed hairdresser spanned over a decade, reflecting her passion for bringing joy and beauty into the lives of others. Having lived in Seekonk for over 70 years after moving from her birthplace, she became a treasured member of the community, touching many lives with her generous spirit.

Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence. As a devout parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church, Mary's commitment to her faith was evident in her service as a CCD teacher and her membership in the Holy Rosary Sodality. These roles allowed her to share her faith-filled heart with others, guiding and inspiring those around her.

Mary's interests and hobbies were a reflection of her love for people and zest for life. An avid bowler, she could often be found at Brunswick Lanes in Rumford, where her competitive spirit and friendly demeanor made her a beloved figure. As a member of the Seekonk Senior Citizens Group, she enjoyed the camaraderie and engagement that came with being part of such a vibrant community. Her enjoyment of playing cornhole was another facet of her playful nature and her ability to connect with people of all ages.

Those who knew Mary would describe her as loving and kind, a woman whose faith illuminated the path she walked and the lives she touched. Her warmth and genuine care for others were unparalleled, making her a cherished friend, mentor, and confidante to many.

Mary's impact on the world is immeasurable, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Yet, her spirit will continue to live on through the countless memories she created with her family, friends, and community.

As we say farewell to Mary Stella Rose, we celebrate a life that exemplified love, kindness, and faith. Her legacy will forever be cherished, and her memory will remain a guiding light for all who were blessed to have felt her warmth.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the love and support shown during this time of loss. Mary's life will be honored and remembered in the hearts of those she leaves behind, as her spirit soars to join the loved ones who have gone before her.
