Seeking Assistance with DPW and the Town

Posted

Hello,

My name is Antonio Pimentel and I am a resident of Seekonk, Ma. On June 27th, 2024, Bristol County experienced a tornado. Unfortunately, a tree uprooted from the end of our property line and fell onto the street. The town of Seekonk was contacted and the DPW removed only what was on the street and left the remains behind.

Two days after the DPW removed the tree trunk from the public street, a representative from the DPW returned and obtained measurements from the tree trunk (laying down) to the center of the street. He was not able to determine whether or not the tree trunk belonged to the town or whether it was on our property.

Four days after the tornado, Dave Cabral (DPW maintenance manager) came out to obtain the same measurements. Dave stated that the tree belonged to me. The issue is the measurements were obtained while the tree is laying down, not straight up.

I’ve contacted Town Administrator and attended town meetings to inquire why the measurements were obtained while the tree was laying down and not straight up. On several occasions, questions were not answered, and I was dismissed by town officers.

I am contacting you for assistance as the town of Seekonk is not willing to answer my questions. Certainly, if this tree is on our property, we can accept this. As a taxpayer, we are asking that procedures be completed and questions answered based on the written rules.

Can someone please assist?
Antonio Pimentel
