John Craveiro, 92, of Seekonk, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at his home. He was the husband of the late Edna A. (Souto) Craveiro.
Born in Seekonk, he was the son of the late Manuel D. and Mary (Mello) Craveiro. Mr. Craveiro was a steel forger for the Rhode Island Tool Company before he retired and was a past President of the Local Steel Workers Union for over twenty years. Mr. Craveiro was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 311 in Seekonk and the Rehoboth Holy Ghost Brotherhood of Charity. Mr. Craveiro was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and the recipient of the Marian Medal.
He leaves two daughters, Barbara A. Craveiro and Kathleen M. Shillan, three granddaughters, Brittney Josefson and her husband Drew, Chelsea Lubera and her husband Rob, and Holly Pereira and her husband Michael and four great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Mary Diogenes, Hilda Levesque, and Manuel, Joseph, Anthony and Frank Craveiro.
His funeral will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025 at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 984 Taunton Avenue, Seekonk. Burial will be in Seekonk Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday 4-8 PM.
