Healy Resigns from Seekonk Select Board
Select Board Chair Michael Healy submitted his resignation on Monday.
The Board’s Vice Chair, Christopher Zorra, read Healy’s resignation letter at Wednesday’s meeting.
“My other commitments have become too great for me to be able to fulfill the requirements of my position on the board. I feel it is best for me to make room for someone with the time and the energy to devote to the position on the board. It has been a pleasure being part of the board. I’m privileged to have been part of so many things and served with so many great people. I have no doubt the board will continue to have success in the future.”
Zorra also read a letter on behalf of the Board: “We want to express our deepest gratitude for the invaluable contributions he has made during his tenure. His dedication and unwavering commitment to the town and to the Fire Department, both as a board member and as an employee, have left an indelible mark on our organization. Chief Healy’s leadership, expertise, and passion for the well-being of our community has been truly commendable. We are grateful for the lasting impact that he has had on our town.”
Healy served as the town’s Fire Chief for many years before retiring in 2019. He was elected to the Select Board in 2021 and became Chair last April. Healy’s term was due to expire in April 2024.
