East Providence, R.I. and SEEKONK, Mass. (December 23, 2021): The Rotary Club of East Providence/Seekonk held a Food Drive in the parking lot of BayCoast Bank in Seekonk, collecting 800 pounds of food and cash donations for Doorways Food Pantry in Seekonk.

Club organizers held a “contactless” drop-off so that the public could drive up to donate conveniently from their vehicles. Rotary Club members and volunteers were on-hand to offload the donation. Non-perishable grocery items as well as cash donations were accepted. All contributions were brought to the Doorways Food Pantry in Seekonk immediately following the event.

“Thanks to the generosity of the community who brought food items to our event, we were able to help people in need who are facing challenging times,” stated William Francis, 2021-22 president of The Rotary Club of East Providence/Seekonk.

Doorways Food Pantry of Seekonk started in 2001 with just seven clients. Today, the pantry serves over 70 families each week and has more than 100 volunteers who have given out over 1.5 million pounds of food.
