Seekonk High School’s Class of 2022 were honored for triumphing over obstacles at Friday’s commencement exercises.

The 158 graduates marched onto the school’s athletic field under a sunny evening sky as the Seekonk High School band played “Pomp and Circumstance.”

Chanelle Gomez, Alya Goulart, and Mira White recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

Principal William Whalen praised the graduates for dealing with the Covid pandemic and the difficulties associated with distance learning.

Valedictorian Thomas Wang lauded his classmates for never giving up and being united during hard times.

Salutatorian Lucy Lewis said “the biggest lesson we have learned is how much life changes.”

Reflections were offered by Class Representatives Kate Leinson and Jazlyn Monteiro, followed by remarks from Class Advisors Dr. Rosamaria Carlozzi and Mr. Nathan Charette.

After all the diplomas were handed out, the graduates gleefully tossed their caps into the air and said their final farewells to high school.
