Mary A. (Croke) Johnson, 80, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022. She was the beloved wife of the late Ronald B. Johnson. Born in Attleboro, the daughter of the late James and Alice (Maher) Croke, she resided in Rumford, RI, before building their family home and moving to Seekonk in 1975.

Mary was employed by Macy’s for over twenty years until retiring. One of her many hobbies was creating beautiful items in many different forms. She could do almost anything she tried beautifully, things such as stained glass, macramé, refinished tables, painted slates, handmade dolls, quilts/sewn projects or clothes made for the girls. Her most obvious talent was seen hanging on the walls. She was a super talented artist. She painted the most gorgeous pictures of the sea with beautifully detailed ships, ice bergs, waves and lighthouses. As well as, many portraits of animals or Ireland. Her pictures won ribbons in local town competitions. She also had such a beautiful home that was always carefully decorated with just the right touches It looked like it came out of a magazine. Mary also had a love and connection with all animals. It didn't matter if it was a dog, cat, bird, donkey or a wild turkey. Mary loved them all and they, in return, loved her. She’d stop anywhere at any time to show some love to an animal. If they were in need of care or just to stop and pat them on the head. Most importantly in life, she adored her family and friends. She was such a giving lady with a kind heart. One of the special times she planned for all year was Christmas. She always made this time extra special for all. She loved to spoil her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. It was an important time religiously, as well as, showing love and fun for her family. It was a time when her and Ronnie would dress up as Santa and have fun with the kids. Cook and prepare delicious foods for all to enjoy, play music and create a joyous atmosphere. Years ago, Christmas Eve was always filled with their siblings and nieces and nephews, such great memories.

Mary leaves two daughters, Deborah M. Collingwood and Sharon A. Propatier and her husband, Kreg, all of Seekonk; a son, Dean R. Johnson, Sr. and his wife, Jo-Ann, of Pawtucket; three grandchildren, Dean, Jr., Brittany and Hunter; two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Peyton and many close nieces and nephews. She was the loving and adoring grandmother of the late Miranda Propatier and the sister of the late James, Raymond, Sr. and John Croke.

Her funeral will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 984 Taunton Ave., Seekonk. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery, West St., Attleboro.
