Jacob “Jake” DeRosa, 35, passed away on Tuesday April 25, 2023, peacefully after an 18-month illness, with his parents by his side.

Jake was the son of Wayne and Janet (Cathers) DeRosa of Seekonk, Ma.

A resident of Seekonk, Ma. for most of his life moving to the Florida Keys in 2019.

Jake worked for his father’s company, New -Tech Company, Inc. for many years. A master heavy equipment operator. After relocating to Marathon, Florida, Jake worked for Waste Management Company as a supervisor for the transfer station in Layton, Fla.

Jake loved fishing, especially Giant Tuna fishing, with his dad, family, and friends.

He had a passion for travelling and was planning a cross country trip in his newly outfitted van for many outback adventures.

Jake will be remembered by all who knew him, by his beautiful smile, kindness, warm hugs and the ability to make people laugh.

Besides his parents he is survived by his sister, Tracey DeRosa Murphy of Seekonk and her husband George Murphy, III, his brother Jason DeRosa and his partner Malainne Costa OF Warwick, RI.

He was the loving uncle to Nathaniel Murphy of Seekonk, MA., Brianna DeRosa and Jason DeRosa, Jr. of Rehoboth, MA.

Jake also leaves his most loyal companion, his dog Chance.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday May 19, 2023 at 10:00am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church,984 Taunton Avenue, Seekonk, Ma., 02771.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.

The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, to plant something in his honor. Any act of showing kindness to one another is appreciated.
