Geraldine "Gerry" Heaney passed away peacefully on July 4th, at the Hattie Ide Chaffee Home one day after her 91st birthday. She was the daughter of the late John and Louise Cornett and the loving wife of the late William A. Heaney for 59 years until his passing in 2010. Gerry is survived by her son, Michael D. Heaney and his wife, Bethany, of Exeter, RI and her daughter, Ellen L. Costa and her husband, Joseph, of Rehoboth, MA.

She is also survived by four granddaughters, Jillian L. and Hillary E. Costa, Claudia J. and Joanna R. Heaney and several nieces and nephews. She was loved by all of us and will be greatly missed.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Irene Collins, Louise Brennan, and her brother, John Cornett.

Gerry was born in Pawtucket, RI and moved to Seekonk, MA in 1976. She was a stay-at-home mom until 1972 when she went to work at the American Cancer Society in Providence, RI.

Gerry enjoyed reading, visiting the Seekonk Library and chatting on the phone with her life-long friends, Marie and Bea.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Seekonk, MA.

Michael and Ellen would like to thank the nurses, aides and staff at the Hattie Ide Chaffee Home for their kindness these past months in caring for their mom and Hope Health Hospice, especially Katie.

Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Gerry's Life at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 984 Taunton Ave., Seekonk, MA on Thursday, July 8th, at 11 a.m. Interment with her late husband will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Providence, RI. Non-vaccinated attendees are asked to please wear masks. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice or perform a random act of kindness for someone. Arrangements are entrusted to William W. Tripp Funeral Home, Pawtucket, RI.
