F. William Cockayne

F. William Cockayne, 96, of Seekonk, MA, passed away peacefully with his family by his side Sunday, December 24, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Arlene (Bottis) Cockayne to whom he was married for almost 70 years. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, William Cockayne and his wife Jennifer of Easton, MD, and Robert Cockayne of Leominster, MA, his grandchildren, Christopher Cockayne and his wife Megan of Oxford MS and Sarah Creech and her husband Jason of Ludow, KY, and his great-grandchildren, Adelyn Cockayne and Allister Creech as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was born and raised in Pawtucket, the son of the late Joseph E. and Grace (Mathie) Cockayne. He served in the US Navy during World War II aboard the aircraft carrier the USS Attu in the Pacific theater. Bill had worked in the textile industry as a lace weaver before retiring. He was an active member of The Booster Club of St. Martin’s Church for many years where he made lifelong friends. In later years he enjoyed watching the birds and wildlife that frequented his backyard.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Celebration Live on Saturday, January 13th at 11 AM at the Church of the Epiphany, 1336 Pawtucket Avenue, Rumford. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
