Eleanor Georgianna Bateson Knight, 82, of Burgess, VA, passed away peacefully in Standardsville, Va. on Saturday, October 16th after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.  She was born in Seekonk, Ma. on January 8th, 1939, to Phoebe Constantine-Gil Bateson and George Waterman Bateson.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Phoebe and George; her sisters, Ruth and Madeline; and her brothers George and James Bateson. 

Eleanor is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Barney Maxwell Knight, and her five children, Jeffrey Maxwell Knight (Theresa), Lisa Elaine Knight, Kimberly Carol Knight Parker (Frank), Christopher Allen Knight and Kristen Avery Knight Call (Hunter) and nine grandchildren, Trevor Cole Watts (Katie), Grace Avery Knight, Taylor O’Quinn Parker, Ian O’Neil Knight, Catherine O’Quinn Knight, Remington Maxwell Call, Pierce Waterman Knight, Anthony Vitti and Devin Pierce and two great grandchildren, Evelyn Elaine Watts and Natalie Francis Watts.

She was a wonderful loving mother and wife, a cherished friend, a beloved mother-in-law.  A kind and funny woman who brought nothing but joy, laughter and love and light to everyone who knew her.

Above all she lived her life in service to others and our Lord. 

A Memorial Service will be held on 5 November at 1:30 PM at St Stephens Episcopal Church, with a reception to follow.
