It’s hard to believe, but we’re already entering the home stretch of the 2024–2025 school year! As the days grow longer and warmer, our students and staff continue to stay busy with meaningful learning, celebrations, and hands-on educational experiences that make Palmer River such a special place.
Over the past month, classrooms have been filled with energy and purpose as students worked hard to show what they’ve learned throughout the year. This month marks the completion of our MCAS testing, and we couldn’t be prouder of our students’ focus and determination. A big thank you goes to our dedicated teachers who helped guide and prepare our learners every step of the way.
We also had a blast celebrating our second annual Masked Reader event, which brought smiles, laughter, and plenty of guesses as students tried to figure out who was behind each mask. This fun-filled event helped raise funds to keep our book vending machine stocked with exciting new reads. Thank you to everyone who supported this special literacy initiative!
Our students also dove into some incredible learning opportunities outside the classroom. In the Macroinvertebrate Project, students and staff rolled up their sleeves and explored the Palmer River to study macroinvertebrates—tiny water-dwelling creatures that help us understand the health of our local environment. This real-world science experience connected students with nature while encouraging environmental stewardship.
In addition to science exploration, students took enriching field trips to deepen their learning. Visits to the Carpenter Museum allowed our third grade students to explore our community’s local history in a hands-on way, while the first grade trip to Roger Williams Zoo offered unforgettable lessons about animals, their habitats, and conservation.
As we move into the final weeks of the school year, we look forward to continuing this exciting momentum, celebrating growth, and making lasting memories. Stay tuned for more end-of-year highlights as we finish strong at Palmer River!
