Kenneth Andrew Horton

Kenneth Andrew Horton of Rehoboth, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at home July 26, 2021, at age 85.  His wife of 63 years, Patricia Anne Matthewson Horton, was at his side.  Born in Dighton, Massachusetts at the Mount Hope Hospital to Ernest Leonard Horton and Jane Virginia DelSignore Horton.  He was father to Susan Jane Horton Shaw of Dighton, Massachusetts, James Kenneth Horton and his wife Sharon of Rehoboth, Massachusetts.  Grandfather to Chelsea Virginia Shaw Guerrin and her husband Kurt of Dighton, Massachusetts, Taylor James Horton and his fiancée Taylor DePina of Fall River, Massachusetts, Chandler James Horton and Merenda Benjamin of Dallas, Texas.  He also leaves many close friends.

He was raised on a dairy farm; and had to drop out of school in the 9thgrade to run the farm-that began his entrepreneurial journey.  Over the years, he was involved in the equestrian industry and restaurant business.  His journey ended selling seasoned firewood at age 80.

He was a member of the Rehoboth Community Men’s Club and the Taunton Saltwater Sportsmen’s Association. He had a passion for fishing, lobstering, boating, clamming, bowling, all sports, vegetable gardening, cooking, storytelling, match making, driving his backhoe, helping others, and working from dawn to dusk.  He always had to earn.

Never one to complain-always with a smile, an easy man to like.  He showed grace and dignity during his long illness, after a stroke in December of 2016.

He was a true Swamp Yankee, and proud of it.  A life well lived!

Please do something helpful, for someone in need, in his memory.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are in the care of the Home of J.H. WILLIAMS & CO., 210 Taunton Avenue, East Providence, RI.  For online messages of condolence, kindly visit
