Film fans of Rehoboth unite; a new movie is being shot in town later this month.
Cambridge author and filmmaker Sharisse Zeroonian – who has loved ones in Rehoboth – will be filming a scene from her feature film “Nothing Solid” at Rehoboth’s Five Bridge Inn.
According to Zeroonian, “Nothing Solid” is a “semi-autobiographical, dark, medical comedy” that follows main character 25-year-old Satenik “Nikki” Hacobyan – played by Zeroonian herself – and her struggle with Cyclical Vomiting Syndrome.
Zeroonian, who has the condition in real life, says “I wanted to get rid of the stigma surrounding this issue that so many people have, but is not well known or understood.”
The scene that will be filmed at Five Bridge Inn is a wedding scene, which proves to be difficult for the main character, Nikki, as the event forces her to spend time with her dysfunctional family and symbolizes the main conflict of the movie; her own anxiety about becoming an adult, which is one of her biggest symptom triggers.
“We shot a wedding scene at Five Bridge before in 2021 for an Amazon Prime project, and the management was so gracious and helpful that when it came time for us to choose a location for this scene, I immediately knew I should reach back out to them.” Zeroonian says. “Plus, it’s a beautiful venue.”
Other scenes from the movie have been filmed in Wrentham, North Attleboro, and Cambridge. All hospital and clinic scenes will be shot in May at BioSkills of the Northeast (BONE) in Fall River. Many members of the cast and crew also hail from the SouthCoast.
“Nothing Solid” will hit select theaters this August for special screenings, a portion of the proceeds from which will be donated to the Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome Association (CVSA) . Zeroonian also plans to release the film on streaming and put it in festivals.
