Dighton-Rehoboth Hires New Business Manager

Posted

The Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School Committee voted last month to hire Robert Baxter to serve as the district’s Business Manager.

Superintendent Anthony Azar introduced Baxter at Tuesday’s meeting.

“Rob is still working out a separation with the Warwick School District,” Azar said. “We hope to have that done very soon. In the meantime, instead of holding us up, Rob is the acting Business Manager as of a few days ago.”

Baxter had served as Director of Finance and Operations for the Warwick school district since last January. He had been placed on administrative leave in July after an investigation was launched due to numerous allegations of procurement, policy, and procedure issues. Baxter’s lawyer, Andrew Sinapi, maintained his client did nothing inappropriate while on the job.

When asked about the controversy, Baxter said the situation in Warwick became tumultuous following the appointment of a new School Superintendent last June.

Paul Kitchen, who had served as Business Manager for the district for the last two years, resigned in July.
