David F. Sweet

David F. Sweet, 86, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 12, 2021. He lived a long, successful, and fulfilled life as the husband of Beverly Sweet for 63 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Milton and Marion (Baggs) Sweet.

Besides his wife he leaves four children; Diane, Dail, Michael, and David Jr., he was the grandfather of Dan, Tim, Mike, Amanda, Ashley, Beverly, David, and Jessica-lyn, great-grandfather of Vivian, Sam, Julianne, Natalie, and Whitney.

Dad has been described as being quite the “character” and a “unique” individual with a big heart who was always popping in with friendly, well-meaning advice or to assist the many friends he made through the years. His personality was larger than life, and to hear Dad laugh, well let’s say he gave true meaning to “LOL” and people loved his company and friendship. He was an awesome father and his greatest joy was following his grandchildren’s sporting events as they grew. He built a cabin in Maine where he made an annual summer camping trip for his grandkids to enjoy fishing, canoeing, kayaking, shooting, and ATV riding. Dad gave us so many memories on these trips that will always be a part of us all. He also enjoyed spending time in Maine hunting deer as a hobby with his son and friends.
Dad worked hard his whole life to support his family as an arborist with Bartlett Tree, a construction foreman with D.F. Pray, and Interim Highway Superintendent for the Town of Seekonk. Dave and Bev then bought American Tree Expert company and began their tree business, which was always a passion for him. He loved going out to meet people for consultations on their trees and could talk for hours sharing his knowledge of trees.

His funeral will be held on Monday, October 18, 2021, at 11:00 AM in the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. Burial will be in Seekonk-Dexter Ave. Cemetery. Calling Hours will be on Sunday from 3-6 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to; Save a Pet Society, PO Box 474, Seekonk, MA 02771 or Alzheimer's Association, 245 Waterman St #306, Providence, RI 02906.  For online condolences please visit, www.PERRYMCSTAY.com
