Rosemary (Corlito) Florio, formerly of East Providence, RI, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at the age of 99. She was the loving wife of the late Andrew Florio. Born in Montpelier, VT, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Jessie (Whitcomb) Corlito.
Rosemary and Andrew owned and operated Florio’s Restaurant on Hospital Street in Providence for over 50 years. The memories and relationships formed there became the heart of the family’s legacy. More than just a restaurant, it was a gathering place where Rosemary’s warmth and hospitality touched generations of friends, neighbors, and regulars.
She was known for her Sunday dinners, bringing the entire family together for home-cooked meals which became cherished traditions. Rosemary also enjoyed playing cards, especially Hi-Lo Jack, both at the East Providence Senior Center on Fridays and during games she often hosted in her own home.
Rosemary was the loving mother of Patricia White, Joseph Florio (wife, Deborah), and Robert Florio (wife, Cheryl); cherished grandmother of Joseph Florio Jr. (wife, Leah), Rachel Gillis (husband, Keith), and Keith Correia (wife, Laurie); great-grandmother of Gabriella Rizvi (husband, Awais), Manuel Maiato, and Andrew Florio; great-great-grandmother of Amari Rizvi; caring sister to Dolores McKenzie; sister-in-law and best friend to Josephine Florio. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Virginia Petelle, Angelo Corlito, Eugene Corlito, Patricia Newberry, Cora Prisco, and Barbara Florio.
Her spark, warmth, generosity, and unwavering dedication to family will be deeply missed.
