Oriana Maria (Tavares) Medeiros, affectionately known as Oriana to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Hope Hospice in Providence. Born on April 24, 1970, in the picturesque town of Ribeira Grande, Azores, Oriana was a beacon of love and kindness throughout her 54 years of life.

Oriana was the beloved wife of Armando Medeiros and the cherished daughter of the late Agostinho and Maria Da Gloria (Viveiros) Tavares. Her nurturing spirit extended to her daughters, Brittany Ferreira and Lindsey Ferreira, both of East Providence. Oriana embraced her role as a stepmother with open arms, for twins Andrew and Amanda Medeiros, along with James Medeiros, as her own. Her siblings, Ana Linhares, Guida Garcia, Isaura Tavares, Victor Tavares, Rosa Resendes, Eduarda Tavares, Joseph "Gus" Tavares, Helena Tavares, and Connie Tavares, will remember her as a guiding light in their lives. Oriana's legacy continues through her many nieces and nephews and her role as a step-grandmother to Adelaide, Zoey, and Andrew.

Since relocating to East Providence in 1978 from her native Portugal, Oriana quickly became a respected member of her community. She was a former parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church and actively participated in the cultural traditions of her homeland, including the Holy Ghost Feast at the Teo Filo Braga Club of East Providence. Her dedication to her faith was evident in the beautiful altars she created for the crowns during the feast celebrations.

Professionally, Oriana devoted over 16 years of her life to nurturing children as a nanny. Her loving, kind, and selfless nature made her a cherished figure in the lives of the families she worked with. Oriana's gentle demeanor and warmth were a source of comfort and joy to the children she cared for, leaving a lasting impression on their hearts.

Away from work, Oriana found solace in the comforts of home. She was a homebody at heart who treasured the simple pleasures of life. Her greatest joy came from spending quality time with her family and her beloved dog, Delilah. Oriana's presence was a constant source of love and stability, and her home was always filled with laughter, love, and the aroma of delicious cooking, she also enjoyed gardening.

Oriana's life was a testament to the power of love and the importance of family. She will be remembered as a pillar of strength, whose generosity knew no bounds. Her unwavering commitment to her loved ones and her caring nature will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.

As we bid farewell to Oriana, we celebrate a life lived with immense love and selflessness. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched, and her spirit will continue to guide us. Oriana's departure from this world leaves behind a legacy of compassion and kindness that will never be forgotten.

Oriana's family takes solace in knowing that she has found peace and will be watching over them with the same love and devotion she showed in life. We honor her memory by holding close the lessons of love and kindness she imparted on us all.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Oriana Maria (Tavares) Medeiros will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those she loved. Rest in peace, dear Oriana, until we meet again.
