Norma E. Murphy, 93, of East Providence, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at the Lincolnwood Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Matilda (Anderson) Murphy. Norma was a legal secretary for the Edwards & Angell Law Firm for 46 years before she retired. She loved to travel, was a voracious reader, and loved spending time with her Maine and Rhode Island families as well as her numerous lifelong friends of all ages. Additionally, Norma was a member of the Seekonk YMCA taking part in their exercise program for senior citizens three times per week. Norma was a faithful communicant of Sacred Heart Church, was a member of the Rosary & Altar Society and also volunteered weekly in the second grade classroom at Sacred Heart School for 20 years after she retired. She also volunteered for many years at Amos House.
She leaves one niece, Linda R. Wyatt, three nephews, Fred Calvert, III, Larry Calvert, and Richard Calvert, and several great-nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Matilda H. Calvert.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024 at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Church, Taunton Avenue, East Providence. Burial will be in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday 3-6. In lieu of flowers contributions to the Lauren Zarembka Memorial Foundation, P.O.
