Michael A. Blackmar, 62, of Burgess Avenue, East Providence, died unexpectedly on April 26, 2025 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Christine A. (Legault) Blackmar. They were together for 23 years.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Charles L. Blackmar Sr. and Rachel P. (Lemoi) Blackmar.

Michael grew up in Barrington and later went on to reside in East Providence for over 30 years.

Mr. Blackmar was a Pipe Insulator for Local #6 Boston for 30 years before retiring in 2022.
However, his most important job was being a dad.

He enjoyed bicycling, boxing, traveling around Europe, driving his Porsche 911, and discovering new restaurants and Micro-brews with his family. He was a brilliant man; intelligent, resilient, and strong yet gentle, caring, generous, and humble. He was incredibly devoted to his family and never failed to make them laugh. Everyone who met Michael loved him.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Ian M. Blackmar and his wife Victoria of Barrington; a daughter, Katelyn S. Blackmar of Bristol; a grandson, Theodore Blackmar of Barrington; three brothers, Brian C. Blackmar and his wife Lori of Barrington, Dean A. Blackmar of Barrington and C. Leonard Blackmar and his wife Pam of Swansea, MA and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass in St. Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main Street, Warren on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 12 noon.
