Marilia Maria (Laureano) Reis, known affectionately as Marilia to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on Saturday. March 1, 2025, at her home in East Providence. Born on December 6, 1936, in Angra Do Heroismo, Terceira, Azores to the late Jose and Maria (Goncalves) Laureano, Marilia lived a full and vibrant life characterized by her loving, kind, and generous spirit.

Marilia was the beloved wife of George Reis, with whom she shared over 60 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Together, they built a life centered around family and community. She was the devoted mother of George Reis and his girlfriend Cindy of Pawtucket, Lisa Boisvert and her husband Richard of Hughesville, Maryland, Christine Reinhagen and her husband John of North Attleboro, and Jennifer Lee and her husband John of Wakefield, RI. Marilia's role as a grandmother was one she cherished deeply, doting on her grandchildren Jakob, Hannah, Luke, Madalena, Corey, Austin, Julian, Samuel, and Charles. Her joy was further multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandchildren Alex and Aubrey, to whom she was a doting great-grandmother.

Professionally, Marilia dedicated over 20 years of service as a Secretary for the Bristol-Warren Regional School District, where she was not only respected for her work ethic but also loved for her warmth and camaraderie. Her retirement years were enriched by the friendships she had formed with her colleagues, with whom she enjoyed spending time even after her retirement.

Marilia's interests and hobbies were a reflection of her love for life and the simple pleasures it offers. Since moving to East Providence in 1959 from the Fox Point area of Providence, she found joy in tending to her garden, where she cultivated both flowers and friendships. Her love for crossword puzzles was well-known among her family, often serving as a testament to her sharp mind and wit. But above all, Marilia's greatest joy was found in the time she spent with her family and grandchildren, whose visits and accomplishments were her most treasured moments.

Those who knew Marilia will remember her as the epitome of love, kindness, and generosity. Her ability to make everyone around her feel valued and loved was one of her most remarkable traits. Whether through her thoughtful gestures, her encouraging words, or her comforting presence, Marilia left an indelible mark on the hearts of those she touched.

Her passing leaves a void in the lives of many, but the legacy of Marilia Maria (Laureano) Reis will continue to live on through the memories she created and the love she spread. Her life was a testament to the beauty of giving, the strength of family bonds, and the joy of friendship. Marilia's light will continue to shine brightly in the stories shared by her loved ones and the countless lives she has impacted.

As we bid farewell to Marilia, we celebrate a life well-lived, a heart well-loved, and a soul that will forever be remembered with affection and admiration. Her journey on this earth may have come to an end, but her spirit remains with us, guiding us with the same love and kindness she bestowed in life.

Marilia's family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who have been part of her life's journey. Her memory will be cherished and honored in the hearts of those who loved her. Marilia Maria (Laureano) Reis will be deeply missed yet never forgotten.
