John F. "Jack" O'Gara, Jr., 91, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Miriam Hospital. He was the husband of Dorothy M. (Lalime) O'Gara.
Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late John F. and Helen (Healey) O'Gara. Mr. O'Gara was an installer for the former New England Telephone Company for many years before he retired. He was also an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was the treasurer for the Irish Famine Memorial Committee, former President of the Ireland 32 Society and a member of the Irish American Ceilidhe Club. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Blarney Stone Golf League. He was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church and also served as an usher for over 30 years.
In addition to his wife, he leaves one son, Sean F. O'Gara and his wife Kimberly, four stepchildren, JoAnn Besozzi and her husband Kenneth, Joseph "Jay" Heaney and his wife Karen, Judy Radas and her husband Jerry, and John Heaney and his wife Laura, one sister, Joan O'Gara, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Donald O'Gara and Rosalind O'Gara.
His funeral and visitation will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 9:00 AM in St. Margaret Church, 1098 Pawtucket Avenue, Rumford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery.
