John F. Davis, 84 of Rumford, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Jeanne Davis to whom he was married to for 56 years.
Born in Providence, RI he was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Foley) Davis. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. A graduate of Roger Williams University, he was a lifelong employee of the City of Providence, serving as a fiscal officer through his retirement. John was a parishioner of St. Margaret Church.
John will most be remembered for his strength of character and unwavering optimism, reminding those around him to trust and not worry. His faith and love of family is what he cherished most and instilled the importance of these values into the lives of his children and grandchildren.
Besides his loving wife Jeanne, he leaves three children, Monica Davis Kent of Foster, RI, John F. Davis, Jr. of Attleboro, MA, Maura Davis McAuliffe, and her husband Mark McAuliffe of Sharon, MA, eight grandchildren, Mary Kathryn Kent, Elizabeth Kent, Gerald Kent, Matthew Davis, John P. Davis, Ciara McAuliffe, Aidan McAuliffe, and Tess McAuliffe. He was the grandfather of the late Ryan Davis, the brother of the late Peter J. Davis, and the late Sheila A. Davis.
His Funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at 9 A.M. from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence, RI with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 A.M. in St. Margaret Church, 1098 Pawtucket Avenue, Rumford, RI. Burial with Military Honors in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence, RI. Calling Hours will be on Tuesday from 4-7 P.M.
