John Casavecchia Jr. 61 of Riverside, RI passed away after a lengthy illness on October 24, 2024. He was the husband of Diane L. (Smith) Casavecchia.
John was born in Ayer, Massachusetts to John Casavecchia Sr. and Helen van Tassell.
John's childhood was filled with dogs and siblings and young boy adventures. Sadly, he lost his father at a young age but later in his early teens, the family moved to Germany while his stepfather Roger Main was stationed there. He traveled to surrounding countries while there and learned to speak some German and enjoyed skiing the Italian alps. Back in the states, he joined the football team at Ayer High School where he got his high school Diploma, he then attended MWCC and was eventually employed by New England Telephone and Telegraph, now called Verizon. He and Diane enjoyed sports both on TV and in the field like racquetball, skiing Mount Wachusett, or Smugglers Notch, or kayaking local inlets on the East Bay, hiking Mt. Katahdin and Mt. Wachusett, or even just sitting on the beach with a good book.
Besides his wife Diane he leaves behind his children; Karis & Brandon Arruda, Jordan & Caitlin Casavecchia and Grandchildren; Elianna, Margo and Silas Arruda.
Also his siblings; Paula & Scott Amadon, Duane Casavecchia, and Amanda Barry, Mother-in-law Janet Chesbrough, Sister-in-law Barbara & Mitch Jacoby, along with several nieces and nephews will all miss him every day.
And his memory lives on in the hearts of all who loved him.
