David A. Miles

David A. Miles, 80, of Rumford, passed peacefully Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Tockwotton on the Waterfront, surrounded by his loving children. He was the devoted husband of Theresa (Viens) Miles, to whom he had been married for fifty-seven years.

Born in Providence, a son of the late T. Arthur and Leona (Sauve) Miles, he had grown up in Lincoln, RI and made Rumford his home for the past fifty years.

Mr. Miles had a distinguished career as a Commercial Banker for over 20 years. He retired from Shawmut Bank in 1993 as a Vice President Senior Commercial Loan Officer. He then ventured into residential development, as owner of Milestone Homes.

A proud graduate of Brown University in 1966, David earned a degree in economics.

A U.S. Air Force veteran, he served his country with honor during the Vietnam War, and later as an Air Force Reservist., retiring in 1992 with the rank of Lt. Colonel.

David was an avid fly-fisherman, and was a member of the Wood-Pawcatuck Fly Fishing Club and Trout Unlimited. He cherished time spent with family at his second home in Newry, ME and the community of Bethel, Maine.

His family would like to thank the Tockwotton on the Waterfront community, and HopeHealth Hospice, for the amazing care and support given to them.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two children, Philip Miles (Tricia) of Cumberland and; Sybil Miles-Castellone (Paul) of Lincoln, and five grandchildren, Ian, Stephanie, Nicole, Ashley, and Lauren. He was also the great grandfather of the late Leo (Pare).

His funeral will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 12:00 PM in the Bellows Funeral Chapel 160 River Road, Lincoln. Military honors will follow. Family and friends are invited, and may attend visiting hours from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM prior to the service.
