Celeste H. Justa, 94, of Warren, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. She was the wife of the late Jose P. Justa.
Born in Tonda, Tondela, Lisbon she was the daughter of the late Goncalo H. and Teresa Chaves. She immigrated to the United States in the mid 1960's and lived in East Providence for many years before moving to Warren.
Mrs. Justa worked for Davol, Inc. as a machine operator from April of 1970 until she retired in May of 1994. She was a wonderful and creative cook and she made the best dishes. Many of her dishes are family favorites that will live on in the memories of her loved ones. Anything she made was always delicious and she loved cooking for her family. She was an avid gardener with a green thumb and she took loving care of her many plants and flowers. She added beauty to anything that she touched.
Mrs. Justa was also very skillful with her crochet and needlepoint. Her creations live on in the homes of her family.
Celeste was a woman of strong faith and she loved her family with her whole heart. She always put everyone else first and she will be deeply missed.
She leaves two children, Helen Terra and her husband Lester of Seekonk and Robert Justa and his wife Melissa of Warren, five grandchildren, Miranda, Michael, Megan, Ashley and Logan. She was the sister of the late, Jose, Orlando, Manuel, Fernando, Luis, Augusto and Goncalo Chaves.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church, North Carpenter Street, East Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 4-7.
