Antonio Ferreira Carvalho, 74, affectionately known as Tony to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 2,2025, at his residence in East Providence, Rhode Island. Born on January 17, 1951, in the quaint village of Calvaria De Cima, Leiria, Portugal, Antonio's journey led him to a life rich in love, laughter, and craftsmanship.

Tony was the beloved husband of Maria (Ruivo) Carvalho. His life was a testament to devotion, both as a loving partner and as a family man. He was the cherished son of the late Agostinho and Maria (Batista) Carvalho. His nurturing spirit will live on through his daughter, Sofia Dennen, and her husband, Jeffrey, of Glocester, RI. Although his son, Daniel Carvalho, preceded him in death, the legacy of his family continues to flourish. Antonio was a fond brother to Carlos Carvalho and his wife Florbela, and Rosa Carvalho and her husband Jose, all of whom reside in Portugal. He was also a respected son-in-law to Maria Santos of East Providence and a dear brother-in-law to Diego and Regina Jones. His role as an uncle to Marlene, Andreia, Taylor, and Jordan was marked by moments of joy and guidance. His grandchildren, River and Sebastian Dennen, will forever cherish the memories created with their grandfather.

Professionally, Tony dedicated many years as a skilled carpenter for a local boat builder, showcasing his artistry and attention to detail. He later served the East Providence School Department as a custodian for over 12 years before his well-deserved retirement. His work ethic and commitment to his craft were admired by all who knew him.

Antonio's life in East Providence began in1982 following his time in Providence and his early years in Portugal. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, where he found solace and community. His interests were as varied as they were passionate. Antonio found pleasure in fishing, a hobby that allowed him to embrace the tranquility of nature and spend time with his grandson. His hands were rarely at rest as he enjoyed building for his grandchildren - a playhouse, a sandbox, and horse jumps for his backyard. Long walks with his wife were a favored pastime, providing him moments of reflection and an opportunity to connect with the environment around him.

Antonio's sociable and friendly nature was evident to all who had the pleasure of crossing his path. He was a proud member of the Portuguese Club of Cranston, where he engaged in cultural activities and celebrated his heritage. His involvement with the folklore group at the club allowed him to express his love for tradition and the arts. Known for his humor, Antonio was also a jokester, always ready with a quip or prank to bring smiles to those around him.

Loving and friendly are words that best describe Antonio. His warm presence and genuine kindness have left an indelible mark on the hearts of his family, friends, and community. Antonio's life was one of purpose, joy, and connection. His influence and the memories he created will continue to be felt by those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Antonio's departure from this world leaves behind a tapestry of lives touched by his generosity, laughter, and love. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we celebrate a life well-lived and cherish the countless moments that he gifted us. Antonio Ferreira Carvalho will be sincerely missed, but his spirit will forever remain a guiding light in the lives of those he loved.
