Pawtucket Slaterettes Girls’ and Women’s Baseball League to move to a New Home Base in the City

Posted

This season, the Pawtucket Slaterettes are thrilled to announce that they will have

a complex of their own in Pawtucket. After a number of years playing at the Pawtucket Boys and

Girls Club fields, the new "Home of the Slaterettes" will be at the Fairlawn Veterans Memorial Park, a

20-acre recreational space located behind the Nathanael Greene School at 271 Smithfield Avenue in

Pawtucket. This complex boasts four baseball fields including an enclosed T-Ball field, an

Instructional field, a Junior field, a full-sized field for the Women’s Division, and two practice fields.

Additional resources include batting cages, lights, bathrooms, a concession stand, and year-round

storage for the league. In addition to the many baseball assets, this complex also has basketball

courts, plenty of parking, a picnic area, and a playground for the smallest fans. The Slaterettes have

also retained the use of Seastrom Field in Slater Park for additional flexibility with scheduling

games for the Senior and Women’s Divisions during the summer months.

Bethanie Rado, the president of the Pawtucket Slaterettes, is especially delighted about the

expanded playing opportunities this new home base will bring to the League. “This new home

complex will allow us to play into the Fall and to host girls’ baseball tournaments. We are truly

excited to start this new chapter in the Slaterettes story.”

The Slaterettes are still accepting new registrations, and Bethanie wants to emphasize that there are

no residency requirements for this league. “We have players from all over Rhode Island, as well as

parts of Massachusetts and Connecticut. Register to play, volunteer, sponsor a team–be a part of

something great!” You can find more information about the league, including how to register, at
