Twyler M. (Felch) Boyce

Twyler M. (Felch) Boyce, age 96, of Rumford, passed away on July 17, 2021 with her family and caregiver by her side. She was born on May 19, 1925, in Haverhill, MA. Twyler was the daughter of Elbridge Merrill and Marion (Scott) Felch. She met her future husband, John P. Boyce, in Saylesville, RI in 1940. They were married on June 14, 1947.

Twyler completed her training in nursing at New England Deaconess Boston Hospital following graduation from East High School in Pawtucket, RI. She subsequently worked as a Registered Nurse at Pawtucket Memorial Hospital and at Lorraine Manufacturing Company in Pawtucket, RI.

Twyler was an active volunteer throughout her life. She served as a Permanent Deacon at Central Congregational Church and in leadership roles on committees of numerous other organizations including Hamilton House, the Rhode Island Federations of Women's Clubs and Garden Clubs. She was honored as a "Minister of the World" by the Lay Women of the Rhode Island Conference of the United Church of Christ. Twyler devoted much of her life providing care for her parents, numerous relatives and close friends, and for her husband, John.

Twyler derived great enjoyment from classical music, art and theater. She and her husband, John, were long-time subscribers to Trinity Repertory Company, the Rhode Island Philharmonic, and members in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts.

Twyler's husband of 72 years, John, passed away on March 7, 2020. Twyler is survived by her son, Scott and daughter-in-law, Christine (McDade); two grandchildren: Eryn Boyce and Daniel Boyce; her brother, Alfred I. Felch; and many family members and close friends.

A Memorial Service in celebration of Twyler's and John's lives together is also scheduled for 11 AM on September 18, 2021 in Central Congregational Church, 296 Angell Street, Providence. A reception will occur immediately following the service.
