Robert W Dodd Jr., 79, a lifelong resident of Riverside, RI died at his Delray Beach residence, on Thursday November 3, 2022. He was the loving husband of Judith (McGurn) Dodd.


Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Robert W Dodd Sr and Genevieve (Murphy) Dodd.


Robert graduated from East Providence High School and attended Roger Williams University. He was a proud member of IBEW, local 99 where he worked as a union electrician for fifty-five years. He served during the Vietnam War with the Seabees. He was a long-time member and former president of the East Providence Athletic Club, as well as a member of the American Legion Post 164 in Boyton Beach, Florida. An avid New England sports fan, he rarely missed a Red Sox, Patriots, or PC Basketball game, as well as his grandchildren’s sporting events. Known for his sense of humor, he occasionally preferred the kids table during celebrations. No one enjoyed a good laugh more than he.


Besides his wife of 54 years, he is survived by two daughters, Kimberly A Dodd, MD of Barrington, and Kerri (Dodd) Scandura (Vincent) of Barrington, a son, Robert W Dodd III of Los Angeles, and two beloved grandchildren, Nicholas and Sophia Scandura. He leaves four siblings, Patricia J Dodd of Riverside, Thomas E Dodd of East Providence, Karen (Dodd) Antonelli (Robert) of Riverside and Michael J Dodd of Cranston. He also leaves many extended family members and innumerable life-long friends.


His funeral will be held on Monday, November, 14, 2022 at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside. Burial to follow with Military Honors at RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.Calling hours will be held on Sunday between 4PM – 7PM.
