Peter Hoyos TenEyck

Peter Hoyos TenEyck, 89, passed August 10, 2021 in Rhode Island. He was the husband of the late Arlene TenEyck; and father of Catherine and Julia TenEyck and grandfather of Katie. He served in the US Army. He was a mathematician, a physicist and worked for NASA. He graduated from Phillips Andover Academy (Cum Laude) and from Princeton University where he was a member of the Prospect and Whig Clubs. He earned his Ph.D. at Boston University. He was in a leadership role in the Rhode Island Chapter of Mensa for many years.

Dr. Hoyos was the son of Count Georg Hoyos of Austria and the late Alice Smith (Hoyos) TenEyck, and was the stepson of the late Captain John Conover TenEyck III USNR (Ret.) of Annapolis, Maryland.

He was the grandson of the late Count Edgar Hoyos who was Attache Honoraire of the Austro-Hungarian Embassy in London and the late Countess Llona Kinsky Hoyos of Vienna.

He was also the grandson of the late Colonel Clarence Browning Smith, former Reparation Commissioner to Austria and the late Mrs. Browning Smith noted for her work in helping children in southern mountain regions.

Dr. Hoyos was a direct descendant of Robert Whitehead, inventor of the Torpedo and was related, through his mother, to the Clay family of Kentucky and John Brevard, Adjutant to George Washington.
His funeral and burial were private.
