Paulina B. Melo, 89, passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving children. She was the wife of the late David T. Melo.

Born in Terceira, Azores she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Borges) Toledo. Mrs. Melo worked for the American Insulated Wire Company for 25 years before she retired. She was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church and a member of the Legion of Mary. She was also a member of Amigos da Terceira.

She leaves six children, Filomena Cunha and her husband Gene of Rehoboth (with whom she made her home), Lucia Melo and her partner Geno of North Attleboro, David Melo and his wife Rose of Seekonk, Joseph Melo and his wife Margaret of Maryland, Louis Melo of East Providence and former RI State Representative Helio Melo and his wife Nancy of East Providence, nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Maria Pacheco, Rosa Parreira, Manuela Pires, and Manuel Martins.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 8:30-10 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church, 79 North Carpenter Street, East Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions to St. Francis Xavier Church would be appreciated.
