Liberty “Bubbie” (Shorts) Delgado
Liberty “Bubbie” (Shorts) Delgado, 83, of East Providence, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. She was the devoted and loving wife of Antonio N. Delgado Jr. The two shared an inseparable life for 60 years.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Medina) Shorts.
She was a great wife, mother, and grandmother who had a quick wit, incredible sense of humor and a beautiful smile. She was a good friend and confidant; especially so for her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed taking care of her house plants and her several dogs over the years - all named Leo until her last, a female named Cleo.
Early in her career, Mrs. Delgado proudly worked as a Nurses Assistant for Metacom Manor. She went on to retire from Facilities and Operations at Lincoln School after three decades of dedicated service to its staff, faculty and girls.
Besides her husband, she will be forever cherished by her six children, Virginia Shorts Davis and her husband T.C., Elizabeth S. Brito, Antonio N. Delgado III and his fiancée Ida Barros, Joseph B. Delgado, Felicia D. Delgado, and Todd A. Delgado and his wife Julie, 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and three siblings, Paul Shorts, Victoria Vaz and Madelyn Shorts. She was the sister of the late Raymond and Richard Shorts and Theresa Roderick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 346 Waterman Avenue, East Providence. Burial will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 12, 2024 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM in the PERRY-MCSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence.
