Leonilde T. (Furtado) Amaral, 69, of East Providence, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2021, surrounded by her loving family at home. She was the wife of Joseph Amaral.

Born in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Manuel do Couto and Rosa de Jesus (Texeira) Furtado.

Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, Carlos Amaral and his wife Tracy of North Providence, Joe Amaral of Eustis, FL, Brian Amaral of Denmark, four brothers, Manuel H. Furtado of Terceira, João Furtado of São Miguel, José F. Furtado of East Providence, Mario Furtado of Ontario, three sisters, Ines Figueredo of São Miguel, Cidalia Santos of Ontario, Rosa Correia and seven grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Ana Maria Furtado, Ana Isabella Furtado, Manuel Furtado, and Conceição Correia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at 10 AM in Saint Francis Xavier Church, 81 North Carpenter Street, East Providence, burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 10, 2021, from 5-7 PM in the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence.
