John R. “Jack” Arruda

John R. “Jack” Arruda, 87, of East Providence, passed away on Saturday, February 19,2022 at home, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Carmella (Squadrito) Arruda, they were married for over 64 years.

Jack was born in East Providence, the son of the late John and Mary (Sosnowski) Arruda, and he also was raised by his stepmother Mary (Mendes) Arruda.

He was a paper maker for the Bird and Son manufacturing for over 25 years.

Jack was a Veteran of the United States Navy having served during the Korean War era

He has been an East Providence resident all his life, except for living in Pawtucket for 5 years, when he was first married.

Mr. Arruda was a parishioner of Our Lady of Loreto Church; he was an avid fishing and quahogging enthusiast.

Besides his wife he is survived by his children, John J. Arruda of Warwick, Linda Sparfven of East Providence, and Susan Nadaskay of Stuart Florida.

He was the grandfather of 6 and the great grandfather of 7.

Jack was the brother of the late Mary Carvalho and Faith Ann Arruda.

His funeral will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022, at 8:45am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 346 Waterman Avenue, East Providence.

Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Thursday at the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, from 4:00pm-7:00pm.
