James M. Silva

James M. Silva, 74, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

He was the husband of Helen M. (Laureanno) Silva to whom he was married for 45 years.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late James and Erminia (Augusto) Silva.

Mr. Silva was a Pharmacists for the V.A. Hospital in Providence for 33 years as Chief of outpatient pharmacy before retiring. He was a 1967 graduate of LaSalle Academy. He attended the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy, graduating in 1972. While at URI, he was the class president in his Freshman, Sophomore and Junior year and was president of the Theta Delta Chi Fraternity. In 1992 he earned his law degree, graduating from the New England School of Law. He was a kind and generous person to all that knew him.

Besides his wife he leaves his beloved son, Mark Silva and his wife Andreia of Rumford and his cherished grandchildren, Tiago and Mateo Silva.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 4, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the PERRY-MCSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. Funeral services and burial will be private.
