James E. O’Brien

James E. O’Brien, 88, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the beloved husband of Dolores M. (Rocha) O’Brien to whom he was married 64 years.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Joseph M. and Helen (Faulkner) O’Brien. Mr. O’Brien was a carpenter at Electric Boat before he retired. He was also a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed all sports and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, New England Patriots and the P.C. Friars.

Besides his wife he leaves seven children, James E. O’Brien (Wendy), Donna M. Hughes, Pauline H. Medeiros, Deborah J. O’Brien, Michael J. O’Brien, Robert T. O’Brien (Tracy) and Tracy A. O’Brien and one sister, Judith Mickelson. He was the proud Papa of nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was the father in law of the late William P. Hughes and brother of the late Joseph M. O’Brien, Emma L. Clark and Shirley Westgate.

His funeral will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Church, Taunton Avenue. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday 5-8.
