Posted

Hope (Pritsker) Zawatsky, passed away on June 23, 2021 at the age of 88, after a brief illness. She was the oldest daughter of the late Myer and Rose (Genter) Pritsker. She was a lifelong resident of Rhode Island, graduating from Hope High School and the University of Rhode Island. While a student at URI she met her sweetheart, Martin, who had just returned from the Air Force. Their marriage blossomed for 65 years until his death in 2019. Hope is survived by her three (3) sons, Jay, Paul and Marc and their spouses, Dr. Julia Jones Zawatsky, Shelley Rifkin Zawatsky and Evelyn Weiss Zawatsky. Hope also is survived by her 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Hope was looking forward to the birth of a fourth greatgrandchild in December.

Hope's life was well lived, enhanced by passion for art, travel, friends and family. She and Marty often visited their vacation home in New Hampshire, travelled the country in their motorhome named Cum Spe (i.e., "With Hope"), enjoyed their Florida home in Longboat Key and explored the World many times over. She was an avid Bridge player, a tennis player and a people magnet. She acquired art and sculpture on her travels and supported the Performing Arts in Florida and Rhode Island. But her greatest pleasure in life was simple – making and sharing a great meal at home, particularly for and with her family.

Funeral services were private. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Union for Reform Judaism at https://urj.org/.  To leave a note of condolence, www.sugarmansinai.com
